4 Days and 4 Nights (not to be confused with Noah's 40...)
Hey everyone back in America. We just got back to Addis this afternoon and its June 8th at about 5:40 p.m. We have had quite the few days up north and we will be documenting it as short as we can so we don't spoil everything and we can tell all the good stories when we get home.
Day 1 Friday June 4th
This day we went to the city of Bahir Dar (pronounced "bar" "dar") and stayed there 2 days where this day we went on a boat and went an hour across to a pennisula where we visited an old Orthadox church in the woods and were greeted by many village people (not to be confused with the Villiage People who sang the YMCA).
Day 2 Saturday June 5th
We were still in Bahir Dar and we were going to the Blue Nile falls which are not as pretty this time of year because of the drout but they were still cool to see. We thought it might be a short walk to them and not a lot of walking would be had but we walked for about 2 hours just to get to the Blue Nile falls which for some of us in flip flops was not a good idea but we all survived just fine. Then in the afternoon some of us were going to see a building where a famous king use to live but it was closed and no one could take pictures so we went to a panoramic view of the city and it was a really awesome site.
Day 3 Sunday June 6th
This day we flew from Bahir Dar to Gondar which was only a 20 minute flight which was the shortest flight that any of us have ever taken. We then went to another historic church that has the paintings on the walls inside of Jesus and Mary's life and on the ceiling there are paintings if angels which was really cool to see. We then went to some castles that were really cool to see in the inside how they were built and how the structure use to be in those days.
Day 4 Monday June 7th - The longest day of our lives...
Well today we were suppose to fly from Gondar to Lalibella and it was a 35 minute flight. Supposedly we were "late" and so the plane took off without us and so we took a bus from Gondar to Lalibella and it was suppose to be a 6 to 7 hour drive, 300 miles, going at about 30 mph or less on a dirt rough road and it took us about 13 hours and was a very long and exhusting day but it was accually very fun and huge blessing because we got to see God's beautiful country and just how awesome God really is. Ask each of us our personal experiance when we get home.
This morning we got to see the famous churches of Lalebella that were hand carved in the rocks. But we got out plane back to Addis and we were all a little worried cause if we didn't it would be like a 26 hour drive which would have been terrible but we are all safe, well, and happy. We miss you all. This is the last post and we will see you in America on Thursday June 10th. Peace Out!
